Although artificial sweeteners contained in food packaging is still within safe limits, but it turns out artificial sweeteners can increase the risk of diarrhea.

As revealed by a gastroenterology specialist, Anish Sheth, MD, that chewing gum is included in the list of high artificial sweeteners. While there are many high-sugar products such as candy, cough medicine, sports drinks, juice, and jam.

"Because the sweetener is digested, it draws water into the intestinal tract and can cause diarrhea," said Anish Sheth, MD, as quoted Menshealth, Sunday (04/13/2014).

Anish own advise you to double-check the ingredient label and avoid products that contain artificial sweeteners to avoid diarrhea.

Anish added, diarrhea can also be caused by injuries in the kidney, fructose or lactose allergies, eating acidic foods, spicy, coconut milk in excess, excess vitamin C or bacterial infection.
